The Collection (2012)

Rated 3 of 5 stars on Netflix

This is the movie made for people who love Saw or Hostel and are bummed that there aren’t more of them. It’s a classic non-verbal masked bad guy living in a booby trapped hotel torturing people and displaying their remains museum style and the girl they try to save from him. The mass-murderer plus serial killer (there is a difference, as any good OkGOREberite will tell you) really just adds a lot of extra blood but it’s not anything we haven’t seen before. I have to say, the only jump the movie gave me was right at the beginning and it had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. I’m calling standard fare for it’s genre. Not a waste if that’s your bread and butter, but if you try to limit that kind of story in your life, there are better ones to choose from.

The Faculty (1998)

Rated 4 of 5 stars on Netflix

So, okay, it’s not the most amazing movie ever made. But, it has everyone. EVERYONE. And the soundtrack was amazing. It was a ’90’s time capsule in casting, writing, and music. The alien bodysnatcher premise is totally unoriginal, but they’re not claiming originality. They absolutely give the meta-level treatment to all plot copying. Overall, it’s just a fun flashback. It has it’s gross-out moments, it has it’s quips, you forgive it for the cheese. Watch this one for the fun factor.

We take a break from your regularly scheduled okGOREber review feast to plug our fundraiser. Apologies if you’ve seen it, well, everywhere.

Harold’s Heroes is for our cat who is having his bum leg amputated tomorrow. It’s a very expensive surgery and we’re hoping to cover all or some of it with donations from friends, family, Harold fans, animal lovers, etc. If you want to know more, click through and read his story.

Thank you, as you were.
