Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12)Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris

I dunno, y’all, but I think the impending end of this series (only one more after this!) is making it sharper. I really enjoyed this one much more than the last couple.

The story was much more even. There was less of that too cluttered, too mundane see-saw that I have accused her of in the past. I think I’ll be sad to see this series end, even if it is reading candy.

A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #4.1, 4.3, 5.1, 7.1 & 8.1)A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse: The Complete Stories by Charlaine Harris

I gave this book 2 of 5 stars on Goodreads

Consisting of 5 short stories that, by the author’s own admission, don’t really fit the flow of the main story line, this volume is a quick weekend read but maybe not worth the effort except to the most extreme Sookie junkies and completist. These stories lack the effortlessness that makes the main series a pleasure to read. In the absence of that, otherwise forgivable shortcomings like the author’s rambling and the lack of really good editing become really glaring, even irritating in places. The content of the stories was fine, but superfluous. In the end, they were left out for a reason.
